The future of the DCEU - Worlds of DC

The DCEU is officially dead. They've now decided to go by the name 'Worlds of DC' henceforth. This really spices things up so much. It feels like they want us to know that there is still a possibility for a future 'Injustice' movie. DC has not had the best luck among critics or at the box office to keep it going but it looks like Warner Brothers have no plans of stopping the franchise anytime soon. Aquaman and Shazam both look like potentially awesome movies with scope for more improvement. The stakes have never been higher and DC needs a win with both these movies. This is such a crucial time for them and if it works, DC will stay in the game for the years to come.

What's next in 'Worlds of DC'?

Wonder Woman 2 has now gone into production with Kristen Wiig cast as Cheetah, the main villain and Chris Pine reprising his role as Steve Trevor. The movie will release on November 1st 2019. The Flash movie will be called as 'Flashpoint'  and it will be based on the flashpoint paradox. The writers of Marvel's Spiderman homecoming are going to be directing this. There's no word regarding the solo Batman movie or Man of Steel 2 yet and there's no word as to whether Affleck will continue or leave DC. Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad 2 look like they'll start filming soon and there's no sign of any sequel to the Justice League movie.

THE JOKER

The standalone Joker movie has been confirmed and rumoured to release late in 2019. Joaquin Phoenix has been cast as the Joker and this movie will take place outside the worlds of DC as a separate movie. I don't see the necessity for it because a part of what makes the joker so awesome is the fact that no one truly knows who he is or where he's from. I guess it's not necessary or interesting to know about someone who's very existence is to cause chaos everywhere he goes. The more we know about Joker, the more we start seeing reason as to why he is this murdering psychopath, we might actually start humanizing with him, making him more human, in other words, boring. But the movie has now gone into active production and there's nothing stopping its release. I'm not excited but I'm curious because Joaquin Phoenix is a method actor. So far, there hasn't been any news regarding Jared Leto's Joker movie which will take place within the worlds of DC.

The DC movie universe has been a disappointment overall and many people are to be blamed for this. But the fans really deserve a win here. Seriously, DC could not have asked for a better fan base than this. They've stood by the universe and defended their movies no matter what the critics or the general audience said. They didn't get the perfect Batman V Superman movie nor the perfect Justice League movie but it's still not too late to work something out in this universe and make it greater, such are kind of gems hidden in their comic books.

I believe that there is still potential for greatness here, they have a fantastic cast, a good and dedicated group of directors working to give their best. Fans are hopeful, I am hopeful and I believe DC is far from finished. Comic book accuracy is the key and DC should learn from their mistakes and move on. I will never stop being a DC fanboy and I will always choose DC over Marvel because they made my childhood awesome.

The DC universe is definitely not going to reach MCU level of epicness anytime soon, it would be wise on their part to stay faithful to the comics, take one movie at a time, tell each hero's story properly and stop trying to compete with Marvel. Instead of competition, I hope there's passion in every upcoming DC movie so that they can continue to inspire us to be better men.
